Jottonia is a semi-democratic nation. They have an appointed Government of 10 headed by the game’s owner Neo. When Government positions become available, the remaining Government members appoint a successor. The Government positions below Neo are as follows:
- President
- Vice President
- Minister of Domestic Affairs (MoDA)
- Chief Justice (CJ)
- Jottonian Times Chief Editor (CE)
- Minister of Development (MoD)
- Secretary of Development
- Minister of Governmental Secret Police (MoGSP)
- Minister of Entertainment (MoE)
There is also a position vacant for Minister of Promotion although rumours suggest that this position has been downgraded to Head of Promotion and is not a Government position.
In addition to Government, Jottonia has a democratically elected Parliament, the size of which is defined by a ratio of 2 seats for every 3 candidates. There are currently 2 distinct Political Affiliations, the Association for the Welfare of Everyone (AWE) and the Jottonian Affiliation for Future Advancement (JAfFA). Independant candidates can also stand for election, if they so wish.
Jottonia is currently undergoing a Parliamentary election that is due to end on the 27th of May.
Government
The Government control the day to day running of Jottonia. they have set rules that can only be changed by Government that are designed to protect Jottonia from cheats, malicious interference, abuse, etc. The rules are policed by the Government members, the GSP and the Babysitter (a forum moderator). Government members have the power to delete posts, issue fines, gag or jail citizens, even kill accounts in extreme circumstances. Most punishments can be appealed to the Jottonian High Court.
Parliament
The Minister of Domestic Affairs administers all affairs relating to Parliament. The Parliament Rules that apply to Jottonia are decided by the MoDA and the Government. Parliament can make suggestions of amendments to the rules but Government can veto them if they choose. Parliament have the power to create Laws that apply to all of Jottonia and are applied by the Courts. If a proposed new Law requires programming or is an amendment to current Government set rules then the Parliament need Government approval. Parliament can not make Laws that contradict or otherwise undermine the Government set rules.
